We started the day out with some RTS or working on freewrites:
We then did a close read of The Goose That Laid the Golden Egg, and taking evidence from the text for support, we wrote on what we thought the lesson of the story was. We also used context clues to determine the meaning of words:
Afterwards, we had guest speakers from Our City Forest discuss the importance of trees in an urban setting:
For math, we took a short assessment on number operations and algebraic thinking, and then we worked in groups or on our own on how dissecting and answering word problems:
Right after math, we did a brainstorm for our letter that we will be writing tomorrow for the incoming 3rd graders next school year!
Near the end of the day, we had some RTS and then we watched a practice performance from the 5th graders!
