The Double Down @ KFC

Hi Folks!

In the morn, we had a challenging Brainstart that involved multiple steps to get to a solution! We didn't get a chance to go over it, but we will tomorrow!

We also had Project Cornerstone! We were read to during Project Cornerstone, and the book that was being read was Big by Coleen Paratore. The focus of this book is to learn about becoming a BIG person! BIG is not defined as large or tall, but a person who thinks BIG about the world and their place in it. The author defines BIG as being bright and imaginative, healthy, kind, friendly and valuable members of society!

We focused on ways to be BIG, active citizens to improve the world by committing to daily acts of caring and outreach in our community with acts of service! As an act of service for the community, we prepared blankets for the Blanket Drive!

During the Cornerstone presentation though, we did not have active listening, and we did not show good manners to our presenters, so we decided to writer letters of apology to them afterwards because it's the right thing to do1

During reading today, we analyzed a fictional-text in order to highlight details and explanations to use for an upcoming informational writing project

We also utilized our laptops to get down with The Dreambox application! We utilized Dreambox to apply various tools and strategies to think outside the "standard algorithm" box and solve for solutions of various math tasks on Dreambox!

We began reading an interesting story called Cardboard and we began to analyze the story using Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey structure!

Throughout the day today, when we had a free moment, we got some read-to-self action in!

We had also had a show and tell presentation today that details the story of a soccer trophy:

Near the end of the day we had PE!

And that's a wrap up folks! Cheers, and have a good one!
