The Old Timer @ The Garret

Happy Middle-of-the-Week Folks!

In the morning we discussed the steps to tackling a multi-step problem! We'll continue to practice these steps more tomorrow!
  1. Read the problem to get the overall gist
  2. Close read: What do you know? (What don't you need to know?)
  3. Close read: What do you need to find out?
  4. Decide what tools and strategies to use
  5. Solve!
  6. Check answer using other tools or strategies!
  7. Last check: Use common sense! Does it make sense?
  8. Last last Check: Label and box answer!

We then had Science Lab with Mrs. Daly! We focused the solar system and participated in an activity in order to measure relative distance between planets and the sun!

Coming back from recess, we worked on our animal research projects. Today we had mini-lesson on inserting a table as text feature, and utilizing "what is _______________" on Google to determine the meaning of words for our vocab boxes!

In the afternoon, we continued our series on life skills, and applied thinking maps to determine details that support the main idea or answers the inquiry question! Today's focus was determining the attributes to good manners!

From yesterday: How to resolve conflicts
Today we discussed attributes of good manners!
And that's a wrap up folks! Cheers, and have a good one!
