In the morning, we came up with a couple of hooks for our quickwrite from yesterday. We posted these hooks up on the board for our fellow peers to use if they did not have one!
We also came up with a thesis for our quickwrite as well, and posted that up on the board for our peers to look at and use if they want.
We then began out rough draft for this writing:
For ELA, we classified our animal that we're using in our animal report, but we had to explain why our animal was under that classification by using evidence from the text!
Right before music, with a partner, we shared the classification of our animal and why it was classified under that category. We also played "Around the Class" and skip counted by threes! We did this in order to practice our basic math facts (the threes fact family in this case)! We also had a bit of time to read out some journal writings:

We then had music with Mrs. McReynolds. We practiced our current roster of songs,as well as a nee song, Peaceful River:
For math today, we utilized the our knowledge of finding area and took it a step further. How do you figure out an area that is twelve by sixteen? Or twenty-one by seventeen? By breaking it apart into more manageable pieces! This strategy is one that we definitely need to work more on, but it's an exciting venture for sure!
