Pumpkin Ramen @ Ramen Halu

Happy Friday folks!

In the morning, we tackled our Brainstart with great ferocity! We utilized various math strategies in order to determine solutions to the Brainstart problems.

Used a number line to round, showed three different methods for
addition, and utilized pictures to show fractional sets! Yeah buddy!
After the Brainstart, we got into groups and had some cross-curricular action, combing social studies and reading! The objective of today's task was to locate details to support this main idea: The Ohlone people had an interesting culture, community, and way of life.

We choose one aspect of the Ohlone community and did a close-reading of that aspect. We read once to get a general understanding of the text, and then we read a second time to pull out specific details. During the second read, we also needed to decide what had to be illustrated on our poster. After the close read, we neatly illustrated the poster using our details, and then we labeled parts of the poster with those details. We also prepared a quick speech, detailing what our poster was about, so that we will be ready to present on Monday.

Appropriately using highlighters to focus in on details! Yeah buddy!
Utilizing our laptops as a research tool!

Since we didn't have Pokemon Thursday yesterday, we had Pokemon Friday today!

What a funny photobomb!
Another photobomb!
We also had two presentations, throughout the day, where we needed to have active listening in order to get specific details about the presentation:

I also received an early Halloween gift today!
Sour Kids, Pokemon cards, cake pops, and Archie comics?!
What more could one ask for?! Thanks Olivia, Nia, and Aliana!
It's going to be an awesome cavity-filled weekend!
After lunch, we got some Word Study/foundational skills action by using the Lexia program to work on grammar, spelling patterns, antonyms, synonyms, and idioms!

Near the end of the day, we had PE, and worked on rule-following skills, and sportsmanship skills!

And that's Friday for you folks! Cheers, and have a nice weekend!
