What I Did Over Break!

Here's what I did over the break!

On the 14th, my wife took me out for V-Day getdown! We headed to Burlingame to this little eatery called the New England Lobster Market! It's sort of a hole in the wall, so blink, and you might miss it! I had a WHOLE lobster to myself with all of the fixins', and it was quite the experience! Food, as my wife knows, is the way to my heart!

The lobster? One and a half pounds of pure unadulterated goodness!
Garlic bread, slaw, and chips? All made in house!
After the mass quantities of shellfish, we headed up to SF to one of my favorite music venues of all time: The Fillmore! Here we saw a most righteous band by the name of St. Paul and The Broken Bones! I haven't been to a show in a long while where I was truly mesmerized and truly impressed by the quality of the band/performers, but these guys.... they just totally killed it! If you like that old-skool soul sound (a la Otis Redding or Al Green), you need to check these folks out!

Paul Janeway, lead singer of St.Paul & the Broken Bones, has some
powerful pipes!
It's all about stage presence!

On Tuesday, my wife and I headed to Seattle to visit her nana, and to take in the sights! We spent four days there and had a rockin' good time!

We went to the Experience Music Project museum, which is a museum dedicated to contemporary pop culture! The EMP is definitely my type of museum! Very UNboring!

The exterior of the EMP is quite captivating!

One of the exhibits currently at the EMP is all about the genre of fantasy! I totally nerded out when I saw all of the props used in fantasy movies and shows!

If you came of age in the eighties like I did, you probably have a soft
for The Princess Bride too!
Inigo Montoya's sword on the left and Westley's sword and glove on the right
from The Princess Bride! The sword on the bottom? Sean Connery's character
wielded that in The Highlander!
Which fantasy archetype are you?
Conan the Barbarian's sword! Nothing like the 80's!
Aragron's sword and Frodo's sword from LOTR!
I'm addicted to the Game of Thrones series, and was quite pleased
to see it being represented in this exhibit!
Sirius Black's coat from Harry Potter lore!
The EMP also had a sci-fi/horror exhibit as well!

Ahhhh! A Xenomorph from the Aliens franchise!
If you haven't seen The Fly (The 1986 remake),
then you have to! It's one of my favorites! This movie used to
freak me out when I was a kid!
Brundlefly prop from The Fly!
Terminator 2 is another one of my  favorite movies, and
I was happy to see this on display!
And there was a Star Wars exhibit, focusing on costume design and aesthetics!! Totally righteous!

Yoda in pre-production form!
Snowtrooper!

Good ol' Jango Fett!
And his son Boba Fett!
Obi Wan's clothing is mainly made out of a type of silk,
though you wouldn't know from the look of it!
Geroge Lucas and his peeps
wanted that Western cowboy look
when designing a costume for Han Solo!
San people from Tatooine!
Rebel pilot and Imperial pilot!

Black = sinister

Whilst in Seattle, we got a chance to see St. Paul again, this time at a venue called the Neptune! I'm telling you folks, that these guys are legit! They're so good, that I had to see twice in a week!

Of course we visited some family too, and got some zoo time in as well!

Molly and her Nana!
Penguins!
Kimono dragon!

Coming back from Seattle we had more family time and celebrated Lunar New Year!

Gramps
A little gambling action!

Gramps, my sis, and my uncle!
Cheers y'all!
