Nachos!

Howdy folks!

Today we reread a few more pages of Mulan, doing so close reading, and having a discussion about Mulan's feeling whist in the Chinese army. We took clues from the text and pictures in order to make an appropriate inference about her feelings.

We also stored a couple of words in our vocab book as well!

Oh, and we started our discussion on literal vs non-literal phrases!

During math, we had another collaborative activity wherein each student in the group had a specific role/job. The task for the groups was to create a shape, measure the shape, label the shape, and calculate the perimeter of the shape:

We also began to brainstorm on a topic that we wanted to write about. The purpose of this particular writing is to inform the general population about a particular subject matter:

We read a few sections of Boy: Tales of Childhood, and they were quite riviting!

Ask your child about Captain Hardcastle!
And about Goat's Tobacco!
And about little Ellis and his boil!
Johnson the plant was unable to come into class today, on account that he was too scared. He was adopted after being found stuck in the cement, without soil, a trace amount of water, little carbon dioxide, and not much sunlight. He is currently getting used to his new living arrangements. Here's a picture of Johnson the plant:
Ask your child about Johnson the plant!
One student asked that I tell everyone about National Geographic Kids: Animal Jam. It's a game that deals with animals. Check it out and see for yourself!

Click and get started for some animal adventures!
I think that about does it. Have a splendid weekend and cheers!
