Today we got a mini lesson on close reading from Instructional Coach Mrs. Holt. Close reading is the act reading and rereading a text, analyzing the text, interpreting the text, and making meaning of the text.
We had our first P.E. session today! All of the third grade classes ran/jogged two laps, and then there was a super boss game of tunnel tag! Imagine 120 students out on the field, playing an immense game of tag! It was amazing!
During math today, we got into collaborative groups and worked together to figure out the perimeter of various figures around the classroom! Each member of the group got to try his/her hand at measuring the sides of an object with a yard stick! Yay! After measuring all the sides, we made some computations to get the perimeter of the object, compared our work and notes with one another, and discussed how we got the perimeter.
For science, we began discussing the adaptations of living things in order to survive and obtain needs.
And that's the gist of what went down today! Cheers!
