Enchilada Casserole

Howdy folks!

It was a pretty epic day as we started out with  a quickwrite:

"Make a list of thoughts that were going on in your head this morning before heading to school?"

-or-

"Write something about yourself; it could be a story of something that happened to you, or maybe it's just something you wanted Mr. Dinh to know about yourself. Basically, write anything about yourself!"

Afterwards, we did a walk-around the classroom and made a panorama, highlighting the important sections of the class.

We also utilized Thinking Maps to streamline/shorten/summarize our P.R.I.D.E. classroom rules. Oh and we did all of this through collaborative groups! Yeah buddy!

Afterwards we used an interactive structure known as jigsaw to share out our group's work, so that everyone else in the class can get in on the info as well:

We also were introduced to a few Thinking Pathway icons while reading the first chapter Sideway Stories From Wayside School :

Ask your child who Mrs. Gorf is!

Near the end of the day, we had a classroom meeting to discuss how to solve problems by using kind words in a calm manner, to walk away from an intense situation for a bit in order to calm down, and to see the other person's perspective. Trying to teach empathy and understanding folks!

I think that about does it! Cheers and have a wonderful day y'all!
