Biscuits and Gravy

Howdy folks! Here's the last October Break update before school starts up again! Eeeek!

If you've never been, head on over to Mike's Bikes; they have a FREE bike maintenance class every Wednesday starting at 6:30. I actually learned from the guys at Mike's how to take my rear wheel apart and fix a flat if it ever happens again! Just a little elbow grease and patience...

On Thursday, I had to go into the classroom. I was being super lazy about, but I knew I needed to come in and prep for the upcoming week. It was a test of my mettle, but I overcame my idleness, and spent a few hours figuring out what the week coming back to school is going to look like! Get ready for some fraction concepts, Ohlone presentations, and character/story analysis! It's going to be a blast!

Not what I really wanted to do on my break, but it had to be done.
Friday was a super chill day! A few buds and I headed up to San Francisco to listen to some great artists and bands play at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, which is a three-day event! We decided to go only on Friday though; you can't be partying too hard before a half-marathon race!

Having a blast!
The last music outing I went to was on New Years Eve, so heading to this music festival was something that was long overdue for a music lover like myself! The experience was a chill, relaxing one for sure, and the bands were some of the best! Here are my favorite three:

The Felice Brothers-They got that folksy/country twang going on. Sounds soooo much like Bob Dylan!

First Aid Kit- Two Swedish sisters who's voices pair well together. Perfect harmonies for sure!

And last but not least, we have Conor Oberst! I used to listen to him way back when he was the lead singer (and still is) of a group called Bright Eyes! Ah, nothing like some emo music to set the mood! Nowadays, Mr. Oberst is going for less emo, and going for more of a folk-rock sound! Nothing like the evolution of one's music!

Here's some of Connor Oberst's real old stuff (i.e. sad music):

It only gets better:

And hear (get it?) is what Mr. Oberst sounds like now!

And today? It was the Rock 'N' Roll Half Marathon! I was super stoked to do it, and got a personal best in my timing! Yeah buddy! I was thinking of doing the Almaden-Quiksilver Half Marathon coming up on the 2nd of November, but we'll see. People have told me it's very hilly, and I've never really ran long distance when there are hills. Gotta stay fit though right?

Molly and I owned it!
I'm probably going to chill out the rest of the day, maybe catch a movie at the theater with Molly, and then cook some dinner (stir-fry noodles!). Who knew the break was going to be over so fast? That's always the case...

Have a nice Sunday folks! Cheers!
