BBQ Platter @ CB Hannegan's

Happy Monday folks!

We started the day out with a math Brainstart that dealt the number, 62. We were to use only odd numbers (as a constraint) and various operations to get 62 as a solution:

We had our first Project Cornerstone lesson today in the morning. We started with a discussion on total support, which is supporting each other using kind words and actions...

Then we read Bradley Trevor Greive's Friends to the End for Kids:

And discussed characteristics that make a good friend!

Finding commonalities and similar interests!

After Cornerstone, we had ELA! We clarified the meaning of stereotype and found instances of stereotyping in the Sideway Stories by using a tree map:

We then read another chapter out of Sideway Stories from Wayside School, and analyzed that chapter for patterns/details that help support the main idea:

For math today, we employed the use of a vertical number line to round numbers in the hundreds!

And then we moved into Social Studies block! During this time we did viewed a Brain Pop clip on community helpers. Afterwards, we had a presentation on vocab frames, and how to utilize vocab frames to further develop our understanding of words in a specific domain:

Most of the afternoon consisted of us getting into groups of duos, and appropriately employing the use of the Chromebooks to collaborate. In collaborative groups, we continued to work on applying vocab frames on specific words dealing with community helpers:

And that's a wrap, ladies and gents! Cheers, and have a wonderful day!
