Beef and Potato Pie

Happy Friday folks!

Today we got down with creative writing in the morning:

In ELA today, we utilized a graphic organizer to write out the stages or sequences that the main character of Chocolate Fever goes through (I sort of had the Hero's Journey in mind when coming up with this lesson, although I did not state this to the students when teaching it). After we came up with the sequences that Henry, the main character, goes through in the story, we used what we wrote down as an inspiration for our own narrative. We brainstormed ideas, and some of us even began to write our rough drafts. A few of us even started on our final drafts!

Just in case you were wondering, this activity are in accordance to these standards:

RL 3.2 Recount stories, including fables, folktales, and myths from diverse cultures: determine the central message, lesson, or moral and explain how it is conveyed through key details in the text

W 3.3 Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, descriptive details, and clear event sequences

We had P.E. today too!

And two more brave souls tried out an alternative source of protein today;

Sago worm. Yummy!
Tastes like cheese!
Down the chute!
Definitely does not taste like chicken!
That's the lowdown for Friday folks! Cheers!
