Poutine, a Canadian Delight!

Happy Monday folks!

I decided that during the time we come in to class to the time we begin our ELA block students can do freewrites and/or read silently.  Many of the students decided to get into collaborative groups and work on writing a non-fiction piece or a story! I was very surprised by it all, but I'm glad the students are getting their creative juices flowing!

During our ELA block, we discussed book club, and how we were going to go about doing it. We began reading the first three chapters of Chocolate Fever, and we did whole-group activities that dealt with:
  • close reading and a specific purpose for rereading
Rereading to look for and assess the things that Henry Green eats ON A DAILY BASIS.

  • describing characters in a story (traits, motivations, feelings) and refer to parts of the stories when writing about a text
The Green Family Tree with some details on each family member

    • determine the main ideas of a text read aloud
What everyone is doing at home for chapters 4-6!
For math today, we redid a part of our arrays because we needed to be more accurate and in filling out these array cards. We're going to be using these cards for future activities, so they have to be precise!

And that's the getdown for Monday! Cheers y'all!
