Tofu Scramble

Happy Tuesday folks!

Today we finished up chapter 1 of Ramona the Pest. After we read, we came back to analyze the text in order to look for important aspects that reveal a character's traits. We also went back to the text in to pick out important details in order to write a summary of the chapter. While reading we used post its to make not of any passages we thought were important, as well as to make note of words we did not fully comprehend. (RL 3.2 Recount stories, including fables, folktales, and myths from diverse cultures; determine the central message, lesson, or moral and explain how it is conveyed through key details in the text; RL 3.3 Describe characters in a story (e.g., their traits, motivations, or feelings) and explain how their actions contribute to the sequence of events; L 3.4 Determine or clarify the meaning of unknown and multiple-meaning word and phrases based on grade 3 reading and content, choosing flexibly from a range of strategies)

In math today, we discussed how regrouping also means that you can group 10 ten sticks into a hundred square! Now how about that? (Fluently add and subtract within 1000 using strategies and algorithms based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction)

And near the end of the day today, Mrs. Mody came in and discussed visual composition to us in preparation for the Art Vista Project we're going to get down with.
