Pan Dulce

Howdy folks!

Today we started the day out with a session in creative writing:

Afterwards we got into groups and went back to our informative texts. We worked on our close reading skills again to pull reasons, details, and facts to support our mini ideas and main ideas. (Determine the main idea of a text; recount the key details and explain how they support the main idea.)

We then read the story of King Midas and The Golden Touch, looked for the lesson/message within the story, and cited evidence to support our answer. (Ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding of a text, referring explicitly to the text as the basis for the answers)

I then used the Midas story to model for the students roles that they might have next week when doing literature circles. We will be reading ether Patrick Catling's  The Chocolate Touch or Beverly Cleary's Ramona the Pest for out lit circles. It's going to be exciting times next week!

That's Friday for you! Cheers!
