Mashed Potatoes

Hi there folks!

Today for ELA we got into collaborative groups to look up words we came across in our Hanukkah readings and presentations from yesterday. We used iPads to look up definitions, and then we put these definitions into our own words. After, we put the word we were looking up into a meaningful sentence ( L.3.6 Acquire and use accurately grade-appropriate conversational, general academic, and domain-specific words and phrases L.3.4d Use glossaries or beginning dictionaries, both print and digital, to determine or clarify the precise meaning of key words and phrases)

We also had music with Mrs. McReynolds today! We discussed quarter notes, quarter rest, half notes, half rest, and the beats associated with those notes:

In math, we discussed what regrouping or "borrowing" meant when it comes to subtraction. Many of us were able to do the algorithm, but had trouble conceptualizing it even with illustrations, so were going to work with this concept a bit more! Tomorrow we're going to pair up subtraction with manipulatives! Yay! (NBT.A.2 Fluently add and subtract within 1000 using strategies and algorithms based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction.)

Near the end of the day, we had some P.E. and tried Nation Ball for the first time!

And that's the roundup folks! Cheers!
