Happy Thursday folks!
In the morning we started out finishing up Chapter 5 of Ramona the Pest. After a first read, we got together in collaborative groups and worked on a few Literature Circle tasks (Passage Picker, Word Wizard, Summarizer) and answered some question by using evidence to support our answers! (RI.3.1 Ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding of a text, referring explicitly to the text as the basis for the answers RL.3.3 Describe characters in a story (e.g., their traits, motivations, or
feelings) and explain how their actions contribute to the sequence of
events RL.3.5 Refer to parts of stories, dramas, and poems when writing or speaking
about a text, using terms such as chapter, scene, and stanza; describe
how each successive part builds on earlier sections SL.3.1 Engage
effectively in a range of collaborative discussions (one-on-one, in
groups, and teacher-led) with diverse partners on grade 3 topics and
texts, building on others’ ideas and expressing their own clearly L.3.4a Use sentence-level context as a clue to the meaning of a word or phrase L.3.4d Use glossaries or beginning dictionaries, both print and digital, to
determine or clarify the precise meaning of key words and phrases)
We also had library today too! Yay!
Coming back from recess, we discussed how to use multiplication and repeated addition to convert units of time. (NBT.A.2 Fluently add and subtract within 1000 using strategies and algorithms
based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship
between addition and subtraction MD.A.1 Tell and write time to the nearest minute and measure time intervals in
minutes. Solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of time
intervals in minutes, e.g., by representing the problem on a number line
diagram)
Before lunch, we went to the Science Fair to check out some science projects! While at the Science Fair, we synthesized information from the science fair projects by writing down pieces of information that we learned from those projects! (RI.3.5 Use text features and search tools (e.g., key words, sidebars,
hyperlinks) to locate information relevant to a given topic efficiently RI.3.7 Use information gained from illustrations (e.g., maps, photographs) and
the words in a text to demonstrate understanding of the text (e.g.,
where, when, why, and how key events occur).
Coming back from lunch, we did some RTS, and discussed tonight's homework!
Near the end of the day, we had some PE! We played The Dark Forest and Steal the Bacon!
Have an excellent day folks!
