Today in the morning we had a nice long session on subtraction, again using manipulatives to understand the concept of regrouping while subtracting. We went over any errors that could be made during this process, and then used a collaborative technique called Rally Coach to effectively work with another peer! (NBT.A.2 Fluently add and subtract within 1000 using strategies and algorithms based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction)
We also worked on our expository writing today, using a circle map to explain what we did over the break. We then took that circle map and began our rough draft! (W.3.2 Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly W.3.2a Introduce a topic and group related information together; include illustrations when useful to aiding comprehension. W.3.2c Use linking words and phrases (e.g., also, another, and, more, but) to connect ideas within categories of information W.3.2d Provide a concluding statement or section)
Near the end of the day we had some good ol' P.E.! We played a game called The Dark Forest!
