This morning, we began with an opinion quickwrite, and then delved into some freewriting! (W.3.1 Write opinion pieces on topics or texts, supporting a point of view with reasons)
Would it be appropriate to have 3-day weekends instead of 2-day weekends? Give reasons and details to support your opinion.
For ELA, we finished up chapter 6 of Ramona the Pest and while doing so discussed the role of the Discussion Director. The Discussion Director role is to come up with questions that facilitates conversation within the literature Circle groups. This person can form questions around problem/solution, compare/contrast, or cause/effect. (RL.3.1 Ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding of a text, referring explicitly to the text as the basis for the answers)
And we did some heavy-duty writing today! We focused on a "top-secret" holiday writing project, and we made sure we had details to support the topic we were writing about! (W.3.2 Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly)
