Mediterranean Quinoa Salad

Happy Tuesday folks!

We started it out with ELA block int he morn! We started Chapter 5 of Ramona the Pest and continued to acquire the skills of the passage picker role for Literature Circles. We then got into collaborative groups, defined words from the chapter that we did not understand or found interesting, and then answered questions, in which our answers needed to include details and evidence from the text. (RI.3.1 Ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding of a text, referring explicitly to the text as the basis for the answers RL.3.3 Describe characters in a story (e.g., their traits, motivations, or feelings) and explain how their actions contribute to the sequence of events RL.3.5 Refer to parts of stories, dramas, and poems when writing or speaking about a text, using terms such as chapter, scene, and stanza; describe how each successive part builds on earlier sections SL.3.1 Engage effectively in a range of collaborative discussions (one-on-one, in groups, and teacher-led) with diverse partners on grade 3 topics and texts, building on others’ ideas and expressing their own clearly L.3.4a Use sentence-level context as a clue to the meaning of a word or phrase L.3.4d Use glossaries or beginning dictionaries, both print and digital, to determine or clarify the precise meaning of key words and phrases)

For math we began, by having a discussing on how to explain to a person how to do a subtraction problem with regrouping if they don't know. Tomorrow we're going to write out our own steps to explain how to go about doing a subtraction problem! (NBT.A.2 Fluently add and subtract within 1000 using strategies and algorithms based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction)

For music with Mrs. McReynolds today, we discussed where and how notes go on a music staff:

Coming back from music class we continued our math block, this time though, we continued our unit on time! (MD.A.1 Tell and write time to the nearest minute and measure time intervals in minutes. Solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of time intervals in minutes, e.g., by representing the problem on a number line diagram)

Cheers y'all!
