Nacho Platter

So today we had our field trip to Sanborn park! We learned a bunch of things that will aid us on our Ohlone projects next week!

Getting ready to go with our YSI guide!

We learned about the many tools that the Ohlones used and the games that they played!

YSI field guide Melissa explaining how the Ohlones would use hides of animals to sneak up on animals during a hunt.
How the Ohlones would start a fire.

How Ohlones would drill holes.

We had a station dealing with the use of tule leaves:

Making rope out of tule.
That's not a hat! It's a tule basket the Ohlone people would use to gather berries!

We washed our hands with lilac and water and then went to the acorn station!

Ground up acorns
Using a motor and pestle!
The pit with ferns is used to get rid of the tannins from the acorns.
An assortment of foods that the Ohlone ate.
We chilled in an Ohlone hut:

We went on a nature hike too!

An exoskeleton of a tarantula that was shed.
A piece of bay leaf.
The George Washington rock.

All in all, we had a good time!
