Howdy folks!
We started the day out with a quick math task, and then we moved onto listening to the audio of the story titled The Waterfall:
We're going to be going more in depth with this realistic-fictional story as the week progresses! We also had a quick spelling pre-test, added a couple of words to our vocab notebook, and then we got down with more close reading during science block! We read about the Californian biome and with some assistance, listed important details from the passage. We then got into groups and listed any additional details we thought were important. Tomorrow we will be looking for important details independently!
During math today, we began a whole new unit that deals with place value, rounding, and addition/subtraction. We started this unit with a lesson on getting to the number 100. It was basically a lesson in utilizing certain strategies to figure the answer to addition and subtraction problems. We definitely need to go over this one again, and be explicitly taught different strategies to get to 100. Today was baseline to see what we know, and tomorrow we shall redo the lesson with more explicit instruction! Hooray!
Near the end of the day today, we had Read to Self, and a few of us got pulled to the back table for some reinforcement on our math lesson from today.
And that's the rundown for Tuesday folks! Cheers!
